Activism... what are the next steps?
One of the big, important and fun questions raised in Ms. JD's opening presentation at the Legally Female launch conference was, what do you want to see on the Ms. JD blog? Throughout the day, various panels continued to ask: What are the next steps that should grow out of this conference? How do we take the energy from this gathering of people and use it, through the blog and in our lives, to advance the cause of women in this profession?
I'm curious as to the answers to both of these questions; not sure if there's a post on the main blog pages of Ms. JD somewhere gaining lots of comments - if there is, somebody post here and direct us all to it, please...
If not, let's continue that discussion here. People started by giving a great list of suggestions that morning about how this website can help - maybe Ms. JD's Board could post those here to start us off in this forum? Perhaps respond to some of those ideas?
For anyone interested, the videos of the panel discussions at the Legally Female conference are now online. I am so impressed with all the panels that I'm now watching - the breadth and depth of shared learning that day is even more impressive in hindsight. That might help people recall and re-energize toward the action items we all came up with in our respective panels.
(I think this spans both the student and the professional categories so I'm going to post this request twice. Also not sure this really fits into one of the pre-loaded subcategories - is there any way to start new subcategories??)
I'll start the substantive list with one item / question of my own, coming from watching the video for the Struggle within the Struggle panel, and Professor M. Montoya's comments therein: I'd like to see more clearly where women of color fit into the Ms. JD blog. I did a search on "women of color" for this site and came up with only a few articles - but perhaps there's a better way to find blog entries particularly relevant to women of color specifically.
Thanks! Best of luck.
