Being a stay at home mom with a JD

I will be an entering 3L this fall and am torn about what direction to take my life. I always knew that I wanted to be a stay at home mom at least for the first few years of my children's lives. That being said, I also very much want to be an attorney and never planned on being a stay at home mom forever. My husband and I are currently considering having our first child and since it is a bit earlier than we had initially planned, I'm unsure of what to do. My problem is that if I finish law school and take the bar and then take a few years off, I worry I will have a very difficult time getting back into the legal field, especially prosecution, which is my preferred area. I was wondering if any of you had been stay at home mothers for any period of time or know how difficult it is to get into a legal career when you haven't been working for a while. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
