15 Things You Didn’t Know About NWLSO Leadership Council Member Jasmine Brown

  1. I’m a 1L at St. John’s University School of Law.
  2. I’m a Libra. I’m not big on zodiac signs but I do think that it is fitting that my sign is represented by the Scales of Justice.
  3. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
  4. I am a Wish Granting volunteer for Make-A-Wish Metro- New York. This requires for me to visit a sick child and their family in order to find out what the child’s one true wish is.
  5. I’m a runner. One of the hardest things about my first semester of law school was finding time to run but I plan on making it a priority again this semester.
  6. I was born and raised on Long Island.
  7. One of my most prized possessions is my Life Planner. I wouldn’t have made it through last semester without it.
  8. The only thing that gets me through my long, traffic-filled drives to school each morning is listening to podcasts and audiobooks.
  9. My all-time favorite television characters are Diane from Blackish and Wilhelmina Slater from Ugly Betty.
  10. I love shopping!
  11. I once waited in the rain (with no umbrella) for two hours to see President Obama on Martha’s Vineyard. I knew he was near by because I happened to look outside my hotel window and see a bunch of Secret Service officers standing around. My only regret is that I didn’t get to see Michelle.
  12. I love self-improvement apps. Some of my favorites include Mint, Gratitude 365, and Headspace.
  13. I enjoy baking. I baked at least 300 cookies this Christmas to give to friends and family.
  14. My New Years resolution for 2017 is to remain balanced in my academic and personal life. I think its important not to lose sight of the things that make you who you are during this law school journey.
  15. I’m excited to join the Ms. JD and NWLSO family!
