Lawyers Club’s Balance Campaign will host its second annual conference
June 19, a Symposium on Work/Life Balance: Bridging the Gap and Facing the
Facts.

The symposium will feature a panel discussion addressing generational differences in the approach to work/life balance issues and a lunchtime keynote presentation by Deborah Epstein Henry, the founder and president of New York-based Flex-Time Lawyers LLC. Henry, an attorney whose firm advises law firms, corporations and lawyers on work/life balance issues and the retention and promotion of women attorneys, will discuss ways in which lawyers can satisfy law firms’ billable hour demands through flexible alternatives.

Henry’s presentation, “Facing the Facts: Introducing Work/Life Choices for All Firm Lawyers within the Billable Hour,” will describe a methodology she has developed that considers fixed, annualized, core, targeted and shared hours. The morning panel on generational differences will include Helen Adams, a partner at accounting firm Deloitte and an inaugural member of Deloitte’s Initiative for the Advancement and Retention of Women; Amy Berenson Mallow, West Coast managing director for law firm consulting firm Shannon & Manch, LLP; and Sherri Petro, president of management consulting firm VPI Strategies and co-founder of consulting firm Workplace Evolution.

The symposium will be held at the Bristol Hotel, 1055 First Ave., downtown San Diego, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with registration and a light breakfast beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The event costs $55, which includes lunch. Tickets for the luncheon program only will cost $25 for Lawyers Club members and $30 for non-members. The symposium will qualify for 3 hours of MCLE credit, including elimination of bias credit.
