News about Ms. JD's Fifth Annual Conference on Women in the Law!

Ms. JD is excited to be sharing an update about our Fifth Annual Conference on Women in the Law, Ms. JD: She Leads. As you may remember from our save the date, Ms. JD has partnered with the Women and the Law Program at Washington College of Law at American University to host the conference October 5, 2012. Ms. JD's annual conference represents the marquee event of the year for women in law. In addition to getting the opportunity to interact with and learn from one another, the conference gives students and young lawyers opportunities to meet top lawyers, hear from incredible and inspiring speakers, and plan for a year ahead working together! In sum, She Leads will present students and attorneys with a meaningful and valuable opportunity to connect to the nation's most talented people in the law.

Ms. JD: She Leads will feature a full day of programming on Friday, October 5, 2012. The conference is designed to help participants develop their leadership skills which can be applied in a law school setting, in legal practice, government, or non-profits. Our sessions promise to be exciting, dynamic, and informative.

Thus, Ms. JD proudly presents the Ms. JD: She Leads session lineup:

She Negotiates will feature a negotiation workshop from one of the top negotiators and mediators in the country designed to teach fundamental negotiation skills and help participants develop their own negotiation style.

She Builds will be a session on how to bring together and lead a team. The session will focus on developing skills like team building and motivation.

She Presides will examine the challenges participants face when presiding over a large group or major organization. We are seeking panelists for this session who are women judges, leaders of a board of directors, presidents of non-profits, managing partners, and leaders of government agencies.

She Communicates will focus on the communication skills necessary for women's success as leaders, from running a meeting to communication over social media.

She Runs will be a workshop about running for office. A full third of women who go to law school say they want to run for office someday but where are the women in our nation's capitol? She Runs will give participants the opportunity to talk lean from a top women's political organization about how to make it happen!

She Rocks will offer an informal networking event and reception which will give our sponsors, panelists, and guests an opportunity discuss the day's events, plan for future collaboration, and promote their interests.

We hope you are as excited about this conference as we are! Follow the hashtag #SheLeads on twitter for additional news and information and continue to check back here for more updates about the panelists and speakers who will be running these sessions. Of course, feel free to send us your best ideas as well!

Ms. JD is grateful to Fulbright & Jaworski, Munger, Tolles & Olson, Latham & Watkins, LexisNexis, Baker Botts, Haynes Boone and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom who have already signed on to sponsor the conference. We are also excited to welcome the involvement of the Women & the Law Program at Washington College of Law and the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia in this year's conference. If you are interested in panelist and sponsorship opportunities, or have a suggestion for someone we should approach, please email director@ms-jd.org. We are beginning to fill panelist opportunities now.

We look forward to seeing you at Ms. JD: She Leads!
