Originally from Barnhart, Missouri, Sarah Devlin is in the first generation of women in her family to attend college. While attending Truman State University, Sarah was a member of Sigma Kappa National Sorority, where she held numerous leadership positions, and devoted her time to entertaining nursing home residents and raising funds for Alzheimer’s research. She was also involved in the Truman State University Forensics and Debate Team, the Women’s Resource Center, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Amnesty International. Sarah also held leadership positions in Rock the Vote and Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Fraternity and served as a political science tutor and research assistant. Before graduating cum laude in May 2006, Sarah served as an intern in the Missouri House of Representatives for Representative Allen Icet, the Chairman of the Budget Committee.
Since beginning law school at University of Missouri – Columbia, Sarah has continued to stay active in her school, community, and government. Sarah has completed legal internships with Enterprise Rent-A-Car Company, Missouri State Public Defender Trial Division, the Secretary of State of Missouri, and Breeze, Roberts, Ponder-Bates, and Zimmer, L.L.C. in Jefferson County, Missouri. She acts as President of MU’s Women’s Law Association, Mediation Director of MU’s Board of Advocates, External Relations Chair of the Hispanic Law Students Association, Legislative Liaison for Advocates for Animal Rights and Fairness, a Juvenile Law Research Assistant for Professor Douglas Abrams, and serves on the Journal of Dispute Resolution. Sarah also serves on the Midwest Outreach Committee of the National Women Law Student Organization. She also dedicates time to the Midwest Innocence Project, Central Missouri Food Bank, Sherwood Forest Camp, Mastodon State Historic Site, and Gateway Greening.
