student loan debt relief

If you want to exercise your advocacy skills, please read the bill written by Peter O'Lalor and I regarding student loan debt relief.  The bill is more comprehensive than any other one currently pending before the legislature.  It includes consumer protection rights, the reinstatement of bankruptcy rights and protections, a low, flat rate 2% interest rate, a ten-year maximum period in which to pay back the debt or it is discharged, an expansion of loan forgiveness programs (public and private), and constitutional protections.  There is discrimination against people with student loan debts.  Please request a copy of the bill at cedresq@gmail.com.  Share it with others.  Ask that they share it with others.  Then send the bill to your local legislators and ask them to sponsor it.

Peter and I may need to get signatures to get this bill heard before the legislature.  We do not plan to give up or let anyone down.  The student loan debt problem is probably affecting every family in America.

Public interest lawyers making $40K a year might have a difficult time "paying down" $150K student debt. Hence, the need for debt relief legislation. Thanks to those working on the Hill to make it more accessible!
