Take Action Against XOXO
Notice the article in the Washington Post today:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03...
Also, Reputation Defender has a petition on its website, asking Anthony Ciolli and the Penn Administration to respond to calls for action to clean up XOXO and its affliates:
"Join the Campaign to Defend a Women's Right to Privacy & Her Good Name"

It would be wonderful to get a critical mass to show that harassment is an issue that potentially effects all women -- especially those in the legal profession.

Haven't these jerks ever watched "Sin City"?
Would it be sinking to their level to find out who the nastier xoxo-posters are and post their names here, or circulate them to their law school communities, with an aim toward destroying their job prospects, limiting their freedom to act as they wish, and subjecting them to social scrutiny in the way they seem to wish on their victims?
Would it help illuminate the issue for Mr. Ciolli if *he* started getting rape threats or death threats?
If the legal system cannot protect women against this kind of attack, is it perhaps time for self-help? It seemed to work in the movie... of course, those women were heavily armed and didn't have to protect their status as members of the bar.
Perhaps Mr. Ciolli would think differently if we invited his clients to view the product that they are supporting by giving him business, and if we demanded that they reconsider their patronage in light of this man's complete lack of social responsibility, decency, or dignity?
Petition advertisers on xoxo to stop giving him business?
Google bomb!
Free Speech?
The article quoted the site's founder, Cohen, saying he wants to provide a "forum for free speech" where people can "express themselves freely, just as if they were to go to a town square and say whatever brilliant or foolish thoughts they have."
What he fails to realize is free speech is speech not limited. I am no expert, but I doubt the defamation and sexual harassment his users are engaging is analogous to speech permitted in public places.
How horrible for the victims. Even if the site is taken down the damage remains.
Another idea...
...where is Mr. Ciolli going to be working next year? The world is becoming increasingly PR-conscience, perhaps we could target our complaints there, if he remains irresponsive?
Mess with the bull, get the horns.
