Are ideas for a Women's Law T-shirt?
Posted August 2nd, 2008 by mkschlesI'm trying desperately to come up with a snappy, funny quote to put on the back of our t-shirts for this upcoming school year. Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe something you used on your group's shirts or saw on someone else's shirt? I would really appreciate it!
Nicknames: Does Using One Appear Unprofessional?
Posted April 25th, 2008 by jessieI was updating my resume last night and wondering if I should change the header to "Jessie." My given name is Jessica, but I can't think of any person that calls me Jessica. When I introduce myself I do so as Jessie. My friends, family, and co-workers all call me Jess or Jessie. Everytime I go on an interview the first minute is spent explaining that they can call me Jessie. My email address says Jessie - so my name is inconsistent on my resume. And yet I hesitate to change it for fear I will appear unprofessional - too girly even.

What do you think about the new ABA accreditation standards
Posted February 12th, 2008 by PegWhile not a woman-centered topic, I just found out that the ABA has adopted new accreditation standards that included bar passage rates. See the article here.
Here are the two tests (either will suffice)
-
In the last five years, 75 percent of the school’s grads who sat for the bar passed an exam, or, in at least three of those years, 75 percent of the grads graduating in those years who sat for the bar passed an exam.
What to do with the summer before starting law school...
Posted June 20th, 2007 by KHernan881Over at the Volokh Conspiracy (www.volokh.com) they have a string going where commenters are recommending what book(s) soon-to-be law students should read before starting.
I am not sure if there is a woman-specific angle to this but I suspect there might be. Please post here your recommendations for what people should do with their last summer before law school.
I'll kick it off:
* Do nothing: I mean it, relax, get a tan.
Bar Trip location ideas?
Posted May 3rd, 2007 by KHernan881Okay, so I know this is a little late in the game but my husband and I still haven't figured out where we are going for the bar trip (it is also our 10 year anniversary in June)
Does anybody have a really great suggestion for a vacation location that is a "best kept secret" and involves a beach and a lot of sun? We want to go someplace that isn't one of those locations that travel agents are always pushing on you. We want to relax. We want to leave the US.
Activism... what are the next steps?
Posted April 10th, 2007 by chimeraOne of the big, important and fun questions raised in Ms. JD's opening presentation at the Legally Female launch conference was, what do you want to see on the Ms. JD blog? Throughout the day, various panels continued to ask: What are the next steps that should grow out of this conference? How do we take the energy from this gathering of people and use it, through the blog and in our lives, to advance the cause of women in this profession?
I'm curious as to the answers to both of these questions; not sure if there's a post on the main blog pages of Ms. JD somewhere gaining lots of comments - if there is, somebody post here and direct us all to it, please...
Mean Girls a/k/a backstabbing gunners
Posted April 3rd, 2007 by Legal EagleI have a classmate in law school who has been misrepresenting our women's student group--to other students, to administrators, to news outlets--for about six months. She takes on tasks that nobody else has time for, for which she does deserve credit. Unfortunately, the credit she is due is never enough for her. She routinely takes additional, undue credit for other people's ideas and flat-out lies to undermine her colleagues (who all appear, in her eyes, to be "competitors" in a zero-sum game).
