    On Forbes, Views from an Alpha Male on the one hand agreeing women have to work ten times as hard; on the other hand saying that if you have to, you're in the wrong career or organization.  We will confess to being a little confused especially given this Washington Post article which describes the only job on Wall Street where women earn more than men: Personal Care.

    The ABA rejected a requirement that Law Schools report grad's salaries.

      Once again U.S. News has ranked the "best" law schools. Editor's note (ahem, rant): As long as these places fail to admit women and women of color into their classes and faculty they won't be decent, much less the best.

        Lets start celebrating W0men's History Month in the Golden State. California Women Lawyers: 134 Years and Counting.

        Everyone says to start thinking about building business early. Lawyerist offers the best explanation (in checklist form!) we've seen in awhile on what you should be doing and when!

        February's Sunday Morning Talk Show Tally: 52 Men; 4 Women.

        A California Jury has Awarded the Largest Workplace Harassment Judgment in History: $168 Million.

        The ABA Midyear Meeting in New Orleans featured a great panel from the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession (Ms. JD's partner in the Ms. JD Fellowship!“Visible Invisibility: Breaking Down Barriers to Women’s Leadership.” There are two great pieces out on the panel: check out the video here and the article here.

        Pepperdine has refused to recognize an on-campus student group dedicated to LBGT issues. Alumni are boycotting to show their support for these minority students.

        NALP's latest study finds that most (70%) of part-time attorneys are women. NALP also found that 13.4% of all women lawyers work part-time compared to 2.7% of male lawyers.

        At Ms. JD we think male sponsorship is important in law firms not just because there simply aren't as many female partners but because men have a lot to teach. The Careerist has an article about potential pitfalls and ways to avoid them.

        And as the law school training debate continues, we have two new takes on it ... law school jobs have "never been easier to get."

            Fewer Women Are Reaching Position of Leadership in the ABA

            UT's Center for Women in Law has published a white paper on women, power, and law (.pdf)

            There are no women on Facebook's Board of Directors and in advance of the IPO major investors are taking note

            Good news!  The legal profession gained 1,000 jobs in January!  On the downside, it appears that few of them are for newbie lawyers.  Nevertheless, the Lawyerist reports that summer hiring is up depending on what school you attend.

            Are you a leader?  McKinsey has a new study out about how to promote engagement "at work" but the research can and should apply to anyone running an organization.  Here's the link!
