Last month I explained that my goal in writing this column is to help women attorneys understand why and how they should go about taking advantage of new technologies. Because technology, if used properly, can help women lawyers level the playing field. Of course, technology isn't a “magic bullet,” but it can help provide women attorneys with powerful ways to gain a competitive edge and fashion legal careers that work best for them.
At the end of my column I asked my readers to let me know if there were any particular technologies or online tools that they wanted to learn about and blogging was suggested as a topic of interest. So, this month, blogging it is!
First, what is a blog? Simply put, it's a website that is updated regularly via frequent posts or content, with the most recent content appearing first. Blogs can focus on any topic and posts can consist of written material, drawings, audio files, or video files. For most lawyers or law students, written posts are generally the best choice because writing is a large part of what we do when we're practicing law. That being said, some lawyers have been successful with blogs that feature audio posts (podcasts) or videos.
