Women Lawyers of Sacramento August Luncheon
Women Lawyers of Sacramento Hosts an August Luncheon Featuring
Author and Attorney at Law: Pamela Samuels Young
“Using Your JD in the World of Fiction.”
Managing Counsel for Labor and Employment Law for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., Pamela Samuels Young joins us to reflect on how and why she put her pen to paper and became a best-selling author, using her legal acumen and fulfilling a passion to write. Ms. Samuels Young’s fast-paced novels, Every Reasonable Doubt, In Firm Pursuit, and Murder on the Down Low have gained her acclaim. She has been described as, “John Grisham with a sister’s twist!” In addition, Ms. Samuels Young is recognized by Essence magazine, Romantic Times Book Reviews, and UrbanReviews.Com.
A desire to see engaging female and African-American attorneys depicted in today’s mainstream legal fiction motivated Ms. Samuels Young to start writing despite a busy legal career. In addition to working at Toyota, she is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Redlands’ School of Business, and legal columnist for Global Woman magazine. Ms. Samuels Young earned her BA in Journalism from the University of Southern California, and her MA in Broadcasting from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. After spending several years as a television news writer and associate producer, she returned to school, earning her JD from UC Berkley’s Boalt Hall.
This Compton, CA, native has served as legal consultant to the Showtime television series Soul Food, and is a frequent speaker on the topics of self-empowerment, diversity, and pursuing your passions in life. Visit her website at www.pamelasamuelsyoung.com.
