Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers LLC Present: "Best Law Firms for Women" (NY, NY)
In 2008, law firms across the country participated in a national survey conducted by Flex-Time Lawyers LLC and Working Mother magazine. We now release from that survey the second annual list of the 50 Best Law Firms for Women. We measured firms on a variety of factors including: workforce profile; family-friendly benefits and policies; flexibility; compensation; leadership; and, development and advancement of women.

9:00 - 9:10 am - Welcome.
9:10 - 9:50 am - Trends & Findings of the 2008 Best Law Firms for Women National Survey. During this program, Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers will release the data and trends identified in conducting the 2008 national survey of work/life balance and women issues at law firms. These findings will be highlighted in light of the 2007 numbers to track the benchmarking changes in the profession. Attendees will be empowered with new information and standards to assess how their firms measure up. Attendees will also leave with an understanding of the future direction and trends of work/life and women's issues in the profession.
9:50 - 10:00 am - Networking Break.
10:00 - 10:50 am - Best Practices for Implementation. At this session, attendees will hear from a panel of winning firm representatives about best practices and innovations they have in place to help retain and promote female talent. These success stories will be shared to enable other firms to implement similar improvements and redefine what makes a best law firm for women.
10:50 - 11:00 am - Closing Remarks.

12:45 - 1:30 pm - Clients & Law Students as Pressure Points for Change. During this luncheon roundtable, attendees will learn about in-house legal departments' influence in improving the representation of women in law firms and how they are measuring progress. Attendees will hear about changes in the recruitment process and how Gen Y law students are making work/life balance a priority and a gender and reason-neutral issue. Attendees will also learn how client and law student perspectives are being challenged by economic changes in the market.
