In today’s world, many people are facing foreclosure. If you do not make your mortgage payments, you could be in jeopardy of losing your home. If this is the case, you need to hire an experienced attorney to fight for your rights. Some people prefer females to take care of their legal needs; therefore, here are 7 tips for hiring a female foreclosure attorney.
1. Search the Internet
You can look online to see what female foreclosure lawyers are available in your area. Look at reviews and see what other people are saying about the attorneys. Find one that has excellent recommendations and give her a call.
2. Make an Appointment
When you find an attorney that you feel good about, make an appointment to sit down and talk to her about your circumstances. She needs to be sympathetic to your case and not judgmental. It does not matter how you got here; it only matters what you are going to do now. You need to feel like you can trust and depend on the attorney you hire.
3. Make sure you can Afford to Pay
Before you hire a female attorney to handle your foreclosure case, you need to ask her about her fees. Most good lawyers can work with you on a payment plan that fits your budget.
4. Make sure she has Experience
You do not want an attorney who is not experienced in handling foreclosure cases. You really want a lawyer who has been doing foreclosure cases for at least 5 years, and they need to be familiar with and understand the laws in your state. This could make a huge difference in your case.
5. Be Organized
Before you go in to speak to your potential attorney, get your paperwork in order. You need to gather documentation so the attorney can look at it to see if your lender participated in any unfair lending practices. You need to also give your attorney a list of any correspondence that you have had with your mortgage company. All of this paperwork will help your lawyer represent you to the best of her ability.
6. Beware of Dishonest Lawyers
There are certain cautions that you need to be aware of when choosing a female attorney. Do not hire an attorney that promises you to save your house. You also do not want an attorney that says that there is nothing she can do to help you.
7. Make sure she has a Plan
In order to effectively fight foreclosure, your attorney needs to come up with a plan to handle your case. They might want to discuss a mortgage modification, or they might want to claim fraud against the lender. Whatever the case may be, a plan of action needs to be discussed when you are choosing a female foreclosure attorney.
