This position is located in the Office of Market Supervision in the Division of Trading and Markets in Washington, DC. The Division of Trading and Markets establishes and maintains standards for fair, orderly, and efficient markets. The Division regulates the major securities market participants, including broker-dealers, self-regulatory organizations (such as stock exchanges, FINRA, and clearing agencies), and transfer agents. The Attorney-Adviser will participate in advising on policy matters relating to the securities markets and providing technical assistance in the development and implementation of major SEC initiatives in the securities area. Work assignments may include the following:
- Assisting other staff in the Division and other offices and divisions in the Commission on a wide array of matters relating to the equity, debt, and derivative markets
- Performing independent analysis of legal memoranda and reports prepared by the staff
- Participating in conferences held by senior staff with supervisory staff, members of the public, officials of SROs and industry representatives
