By Raychelle Tasher • August 11, 2016•Ms. JD
Dear Ms. JDs:
They say that your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room. This past week, a lot of people have been talking about Ms. JD and we are humbled and grateful for the wonderful things they’ve been saying:
- At the beginning of the week, Alan Bryan, Senior Associate General Counsel at Walmart, talked about the value of Ms. JD at the Citibank Law Conference and mentioned that our leaders are “model associates” for their commitment to women in the profession.
- Paulette Brown credited an interview with Ms. JD as THE inspiration for her 50 State tour as ABA President.
- Ms. JD received repeated mentions for our demonstrated development of young women leading the legal profession during the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession’s Margaret Brent Awards Luncheon at #abaannual!
We couldn’t be more thrilled for the recognition that Ms. JD is receiving and we thank each of you for your commitment to young women in the profession and for being such incredible ambassadors of the Ms. JD brand. So whether you’re going through on campus interviews, prepping for that Fall LSAT, or representing Ms. JD as one of the amazing women lawyers in our profession, hold your head high because You Are a Ms. JD.
More New Leaders to Come: Executive Director Transition at Ms. JD
Ms. JD is about to embark on an exciting new transition that we wanted to share with you, our community! Our Executive Director, Heather Byrd Asher, has decided that her time at Ms. JD has convinced her that she should return to legal practice! We’re thrilled for Heather as she embarks on her new adventure, excited for the profession as Ms. JD’s goal has always been to develop women leaders, and we congratulate Smith LLC, a small firm in Atlanta, who will be benefitting from Heather’s incredible talents.
Today, Ms. JD will begin our search for a new Executive Director. That search will be led by Ms. JD Board Member, Shannon McNeal. Shannon can be contacted directly at mcneal@ms-jd.org. The application can be found here.
We are excited to welcome another strong, intelligent, compassionate person to help Ms. JD continue the critical work of advancing aspiring and early career women lawyers and we wish Heather all of the best in her new role. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions, concerns, or recommendations for a new Executive Director candidate.
Sincerely,
Raychelle Tasher
Ms. JD, President and Chair of the Board of Directors
