Ms. JD Global Education Fund Scholar Update: Monica Athieno

Editor's Note: Monica Athieno is a 2010 Ms. JD International Scholar studying law at Makerere University in Uganda thanks to the Global Eduction Fund.

Monica reports:

Last semester was really challenging in various aspects. I am honored to give an account accompanying my results of the previous semester.  I really set out a goal to achieve last semester and am glad I met it and I am further challenged to aim higher.

I hope for even better this semester and in order to achieve this, I am really reading even harder and utilizing every resource available at my reach just to make sure I excel academically. Last semester progress is courtesy of hard work, self belief and external advice and support, I had an opportunity to do internship at the High Court of Uganda between June-August, 2013 and it was an amazing experience especially the fact that I had to directly apply the theoretic knowledge to solve the different problems in the field. I came up with a report for which marks are to be awarded and I am hoping for the best outcome. I therefore had no holiday but I had awesome moment learning directly from judges, clerks and the different court officials. I have never felt so involved like being part of the Internship program.

Again, thank you very much for the upper hand to enable my stay in Law school. God richly bless you.

Thank you
