Ms. JD is currently seeking applications for our 2018 Writers in Residence Program. The Writers in Residence program was started in 2010 and is a select group of practicing attorneys, alternative career individuals, pre-law students, current law students, and other professionals who contribute monthly articles for one year to the Ms. JD blog on a topic of their choosing. Some blog titles this year were: Concrete Ceilings and Open Doors: Women of Color & The Law, Drive Your Journey, Monthly Mantra: Finding Health and Wellness in the Law, Failure Turned Inside Out, The Road Less Traveled: Alternative Legal Paths, The M in Law: Mommy, Where are You? Part-Time Law, Full-Time Life, LawTech and Women in Legal Tech, Take Two: The Journey to Retaking the Bar and many many more. What perspectives could you bring to next year’s Program? Release your inner writer!
Write for a blog that is included on the ABA Journal’s Blawg 100 Hall of Fame list. Develop your online presence, expand your network in the legal industry, and add a distinguished position to your resume.
Application details and instructions:
To apply for the 2018 Ms. JD Writers in Residence Program, please submit all of the following information and materials in a completed application package as one PDF file to firstname.lastname@example.org by 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, November 20, 2017:
•"Ms. JD 2018 Writers in Residence Program Application" in the subject line
•Resume that includes:
- Full Name
- Email address
- Telephone Number
- Any relevant writing experience
•Proposed column title (approximately 50 characters or less)
•100-300 word description of your column idea
•The link to a completed blog post on the Ms. JD website, along with the content of your completed blog post (*Please see the section below entitled, "Blog Post Instructions" for corresponding instructions)
•A brief response (no more than 300 words total) to the following questions: How much time do you anticipate you would spend on your column each month? How would you plan to allocate the time necessary to participate in the Ms. JD Writers in Residence Program alongside your other time commitments?
*Blog Post Instructions:
Applicants for the 2018 Ms. JD Writers in Residence Program are asked to write a response containing at least 250 words and no more than 500 words to the following prompt “What is the number one piece pf career advice you have received” and to post it on the Ms. JD blog before submitting your Writers in Residence Program application.
Please use your Ms. JD account to post your response to the blog. If you do not have a Ms. JD account, you may register for one here: http://ms-jd.org/profile/register. Please be sure to include the link to your post with your other application materials. If you do not do so, your application will be considered incomplete.
Applicants will be notified as to whether they have been selected to participate in the 2018 Ms. JD Writers in Residence Program by the end of December 2017. We look forward to receiving your application!
