Ms. JD seeking new Programs Assistant!

Ms. JD needs your help! 

Ms. JD is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to the success of aspiring and early career women lawyers. Serving as a unique nexus between the profession and the pipeline of diverse attorneys, Ms. JD’s online community provides a forum for dialogue and networking among women lawyers and law students. Ms. JD celebrates women’s achievements, addresses remaining challenges, and facilitates continued progress by bringing legal practitioners and law students together to share in an ongoing conversation about gender issues in law school and the profession.

We are looking for a Programs Assistant to join us as an independent contractor. As an independent contractor, the Programs Assistant will exercise her or his own independent judgment and discretion to support the Executive Director and will help coordinate Ms. JD’s local and national programming.

As the Programs Assistant, you will help assemble and organize Ms. JD events, such as the Annual Conference, the NWLSO Leadership Academy, and more! You will scout event locations, connect with speakers, sponsors and community partners, set up registration pages, coordinate conference materials (such as speaker gifts, brochures, name tags, etc.), and assist the Executive Director on-site with event logistics.

The Programs Assistant also may support Ms. JD by:

• Providing general administrative support to management

• Preparing and modifying documents including correspondence, reports, drafts, memos and emails

• Scheduling and coordinating travel arrangements as needed

• Managing the Board of Directors’ meeting calendar

• Maintaining the electronic filing system

• Assisting in resolving administrative problems

• Performing other related duties from time to time

The best fit for this Programs Assistant position would be somebody with:

• Experience planning events or conferences

• The ability to stay organized and on top of deadlines

• Experience using Eventbrite, Network For Good, or Survey Monkey

• Strong computer skills (comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Docs, Dropbox)

• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

• Ability to prioritize projects and strong problem solving skills

• Good research skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

• Ability to juggle multiple projects with superb accuracy

• Passion and drive for women helping women and Ms. JD’s mission

Ms. JD is a national organization, with its Board of Directors spread across the United States. As an independent contractor, you will work remotely using your own personal computer and other self-provided technology. Ms. JD will not provide you with office facilities or equipment. You should plan to travel to Ms. JD events. The Programs Assistant will receive a bi-weekly stipend and will be eligible for project-based incentives. The Programs Assistant will be in control of her or his schedule to complete her or his required projects and should anticipate providing services to Ms. JD at least 10 hours per week.
