Ms. JD Welcomes Two New Members to the Board of Directors!

Ms. JD, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to the success of women in law school and the legal profession, is very excited to welcome Jane Rosales and Erin Callahan to the Board of Directors.

Erin Callahan attended her first Ms. JD conference in 2011 and has served on the conference committee for the past two years. In addition to serving on the Ms. JD Board of Directors, Erin also serves on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association. “I am excited to be joining the Ms. JD Board of Directors and I'm honored to have been selected. I am looking forward to contributing to the advancement of women in the legal industry,” said Erin.  “I think Sandra Day O'Connor said it best: ‘Despite the encouraging and wonderful gains and the changes for women which have occurred in my lifetime, there is still room to advance and to promote correction of the remaining deficiencies and imbalances.’”

Erin currently works in an alternative legal career at Philadelphia Insurance Companies in the claims department. She focuses on niche insurance markets including nonprofits and professional liability. She is a 2007 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and a 2011 graduate of Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where she earned her J.D. During law school, Erin served as Women in Law President for two years and as Student Bar Association President her last year. After graduation, she worked for Claim Adjustment Specialists, a small company in the insurance industry, where she was Vice President of Subrogation and Associate Counsel.

Jane Rosales is a long-time reader of Ms. JD and previously served as Ms. JD’s Social Media Manager. Prior to joining Ms. JD, Jane was the coordinator of Mobile Legal Help Center and an intern in Consumer Protection Project at NYLAG. She also served two AmeriCorps terms in Boston as a literacy tutor and volunteer coordinator. “I am very excited to take on this new role in an organization I believe in so much. The skills I have gained as both a reader and employee of Ms. JD have been integral to my career development. I hope to use my new responsibilities to continue the advancement of women in the legal field.”

Jane is a law student at New York Law School's evening division and a paralegal in the Disability Advocacy Project at the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). Jane graduated from Binghamton University with a degree in Political Science and obtained her Master’s degree in International Affairs from Northeastern University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Binghamton University Alumni Association.

"Both Jane and Erin have already demonstrated one of the distinguishing traits of Ms. JD, they have been young leaders in other organizations.  Moreover, both have shown an incredible commitment and passion for Ms. JD's mission to support aspiring and early career women lawyers through their active work with the organization,” said Ms. JD President Katie Larkin-Wong. “We are very lucky that they will be joining us in this new capacity."
