Resolved: Ms. JD Board and Staff Members’ New Year’s Resolutions
By Janet Wallace • January 26, 2017•Ms. JD
Happy 2017!
As I've mentioned, New Year's Resolutions are one of my favorite things. There's something about a fresh start, a new beginning, the first page on a new calendar, and all the promise that a new year holds. I asked the Ms. JD Board and Staff to share their resolutions for 2017. Here's what they had to say:
My New Years' resolution is to be a better friend. This includes remembering birthdays and kids' birthdays. So I purchased a calendar. And I wrote down all my friends' birthdays, all their kids' birthdays, and most of their wedding anniversaries. Then I looked at my beautiful calendar a few days later and realized I had already missed the first birthday! So, the resolution starts TODAY!
Learn more about historical racial and social injustice movements to think about what lessons they can teach us about how we can support one another today. Be more purposeful about carving time out for self care.
1. Get in shape and 2. Travel abroad.
1. To visit more national parks; 2. To get more involved in local politics and organizing; 3. To do a pull up (just one)
Besides graduating, passing the Bar Exam and finding a job, I want to stay grounded in the present and stop constantly thinking about the next step.
1. Participate in a run/walk for a cause I believe in. 2. Spend more time with my family and friends.
And, Yours Truly, former member of the Board and MS. JD supporter:
I'm resolving to make positive change(s). More on that to come.
Finally, former Board Member Noorain Khan talks resolutions on her amazing podcast, In Theory.
Readers, what are your resolutions?
