Stand Up: Taking Leadership Initiative to Accelerate Your Career

Please join Ms. JD on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 12:30-2 pm EDT for an engaging conversation with Professor Scott Westfahl, Faculty Director of Harvard Law School Executive Education.  Professor Westfahl oversees and teaches global leadership and business skills programs for senior and emerging law firm leaders, general counsel and other senior in-house leaders, and mid- to senior-level associates.    He also teaches courses on problem solving, teams, networks and innovation within the law school's J.D. Curriculum.

Professor Westfahl joined HLS from the law firm Goodwin Procter LLP, where he served from 2004-2013 as the firm's Director of Professional Development. Prior to his work at Goodwin Procter, Professor Westfahl spent six years leading professional development for the Washington, D.C. office of McKinsey & Company. He is also an experienced business and federal regulatory attorney, having practiced law with Foley & Lardner's Washington, D.C. office from 1988 to 1998. Professor Westfahl earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1988, and graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1985.

In an event hosted by National Sponsor Paul Hastings LLP, Professor Westfahl is offering his advice to the Ms. JD community and will spend an hour answering your questions on how taking on leadership roles now, whether you’re in law school or already practicing, can translate into career success.  This national event will be moderated by former Ms. JD Board Member Noorain Khan, who serves on the Boards of the Girl Scouts of the USA and the Association of American Rhodes Scholars and was most recently Chief of Staff to Wendy Kopp, CEO and Co-Founder of Teach for All.

The event will be held live in the New York office of Paul Hastings LLP from 12:30 -2:00 pm EDT on Monday, June 22, 2015 and broadcast to viewing parties in its offices in the following locations:Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orange County, Palo Alto, San Diego, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. For those unable to attend a viewing party, a conference line is available.
