Having a bad day can certainly rock your confidence. Especially if you recently had a few of those. People in this situation delve into the darkness, doing some of the worst things that they should do during those times – comparing themselves, wallowing about not being perfect, giving up and so on.
However, there are much healthier ways to handle these feelings. You need to motivate yourself and focus on getting better.
Here are some tips for when you truly need some motivation and you feel like you are not good enough.
1. Focus on progress
Instead of constantly focusing on your results, you might want to switch your point of view and regard the very process of achieving something like the ultimate goal. This way, you'll have more fun and the results will follow on their own.
Focusing too much on results and them being perfect might get you in a bad mood, make you stressed and nervous. However, a shifted focus towards progress and small milestones will make you feel good about yourself and raise your confidence – as it should.
2. Write a journal
Writing is famously one of the best things that you can do for yourself when having some issues. 3. Don't compare yourself with others
Comparing yourself to others is one of the worst mistakes you can make. This is toxic and violent thinking that shouldn’t be present in your life. People often seem like they have it all and it can cause a lot of confusion in your life - 'How is that person achieving this and I can't?'
However, you need to understand that those people have their own issues too. They are just not showing them. The only person you should be in the competition with is yourself. Measure your current results with your previous results, focus on improving yourself in comparison with your younger self and you'll be a happier person.
4. Learn something new every day
Learning can be truly beneficial for any individual. However, it's rarely mentioned how good it can be when you are feeling like you are not good enough. It raises your confidence and makes your life interesting.
Options for learning are endless as well. You could learn something related to your current job that you didn't know before or you could learn a language, playing an instrument, art technique or something entirely different.
