By Carla Laroche • January 18, 2015•Ms. JD, Conference
Ms. JD is hosting its Seventh Annual Conference on Women in the Law: Stronger Together on March 5 & 6, 2015 at UC Hastings College of the Law. In the lead up to our annual conference, Ms. JD board members, staff, and annual conference participants will share what our conference theme “Stronger Together” means to them.
To me, stronger together means . . . we will be wiser and more efficient at reaching our goals through community support.
I’m a member of the following professional organizations, which have demonstrated to me that there is strength in numbers . . .
- Ms. JD
- The Virginia Bar Association
- The Old Dominion Bar Association
- The American Bar Association
My mentor(s) taught me . . . to push myself; to prepare for what may come; to think about my value-added before committing to something; and to accept and learn from criticism.
My mentee(s) taught me . . . sometimes it’s better to listen than to offer advice; my advice is respected, even if it’s not followed; and I am prouder of their accomplishments than my own.
Before, during, and after this year’s conference, I’d like to help members of Ms. JD’s network by. . . pushing members to succeed and bragging about their successes. Contact me (email@example.com) if you need motivation to do something you’re nervous about, but that will be good for your career, OR if you have done (are doing) something of which you’re proud. I enjoy sharing positive news!
