Plague In The Profession: Success In The Legal World Is No Safeguard Against Sexual Harassment

Debra Baker

Alissa Heenan and Sofia Taj went to law school so they could learn how to protect the rights of others. They ended up defending themselves. The Temple law school graduates were among more than a dozen women at the Philadelphia university who say they were subjected to ongoing harassment by a male student for the better part of two years. While extreme in terms of the openness of the behavior and number of women involved, the case is reflective of findings in numerous studies and reports released in the last five years on sexual harassment and other gender issues in law schools and firms.
