This report considers how successful we have been in implementing the recommendations of the Strober report, what challenges we continue to face in our efforts to achieve greater gender equity for women faculty at Stanford, and what new strategies are required. Compiled by a subcommittee of the Faculty Women's Caucus and placed on the agenda of the Senate by a petition signed by the requisite 50 members of the Academic Council, this report intends to re-open discussion of the status of women faculty at Stanford, to propose a general recommitment to the goal of gender equity, and to suggest specific means to improve Stanford's record on the hiring and retention of women faculty.
