Women of the Courts Symposium: Personal Reflections

Dolores Korman Sloviter

You are seen as the intelligentsia of the legal profession, so I ask you to consider whether we still need to make, in the words of the revised Executive Order, special efforts to seek out and identify well qualified women and members of minority groups as potential nominees to the bench. 25 Those are the words of the 1978 revised Executive Order promulgated just over twenty-five years ago. I have recently received a report from the National Judicial Education Program that sets forth examples of appointments of all-white male groups of judges in some situations throughout the country. I don't know what that bodes for the future, and neither do they, but it's worth noting.
