Growing up as a first-generation child of immigrants has driven me to advocate for these communities through academia and community involvement. Growing up in Los Angeles, the impacts of environmental policy and law were hotly contested yet directly affected the lives of those living in a city plagued with air pollution and overcrowding. Environmental injustice is a human rights violation that affects people’s health, lifestyle and access to justice.
